Many changes occur in life and whether we desire these changes or not, it can sometimes be stressful to experience change. Whether adjusting to a new job, a new child, a recent move, or a new medication, transition can be difficult. For some of us we may benefit from taking some space to reflect and make plans in anticipation of, during or after transitions. Therapy can be a great place for this reflection. During transitions you may wish to meet with a therapist, alone or with friends or family, in order to explore:
- feelings that are coming up (like fear, excitement, anxiety, anger or worry)
- perceptions of the experience
- ways to adjust and cope with the change
- further changes desired
